ABOUT THE IMPORTANCE OF A MORNING ROUTINE
Every morning something new appears, where you get the chance to accept it or turn around....
Psychologists conduct whole studies about what positive effects a morning routine has on our health. By establishing morning routines, we have the ability to deal better with stressful situations.
Personal experience coincides with these statements. I am often asked how I manage to balance my work off the mat as teacher & as yoga teacher on the mat, yoga, family; Of course, this would not be possible without the support of family and friends, however, I have notice that when I don't have my morning routine, I have a hard time staying mentally balanced throughout the day. My morning routine helps me to structure my mind & balance my body & soul.
But what does a good daily routine look like?
Who does it better...
No one! You are the only one who knows what you want and need.
What does it mean exactly?
You have to find out for yourself, of course. Your morning routine is primarily about creating space for yourself, where you have the opportunity to start the morning just for you. If you have not yet found a specific routine for yourself, then take your time & try it out.
Start with, a daily 20 to 30 minutes morning routine - just for you. This time does not include getting dressed or brushing your teeth.
What for others looks like jogging in the morning, is for other’s free dancing in front of the mirror. Stay unlimited in your possibilities and needs.
How does my personal morning routine looks like?
Keep in mind, however, that these are primarily just inspirations.
The only essential component to this is that you set aside 20 to 30min. Even if it means you have to start your day earlier :)
The calm before the storm...
that's how I feel when my alarm goes off at 05:00am every morning (Mondays to Fridays only). On the weekends, I allow myself some sleep, yet I still pick up some habits at points so I don't get out of practice.
Happy Face
05:00 I get up until 05:15 I take care of my dog and cat; make myself a coffee and prepare the school lunch for my oldest. In that sense, my ME-TIME starts at 05:15.
05:15 with my cup of coffee, I start my meditation.
05:30 I write down my To Do's for the day = at the end of the month, this can be replaced, by asking, "What did I do particularly well this month? What tasks couldn't get done this month and what am I especially looking forward to next month?"
05:45 I love to create new content for my beautiful yogis- so I create & try new things out or I write blog post while listening to short podcast episodes or music.
06:30 My personal yoga practice to feel my body early in the morning.
07:00 it's Time to get ready!
The last two years my morning routine has changed: I usually started my daily morning at 6;00 AM - a year ago I started to wake up at 5:00 AM: I can tell you from a personal perspective it is a real game changer.
I don’t see it as work I see it as a way to keep calm & balanced throughout the day; without having the feeling of not investing enough time for me & my personal studies.
As you can see, it's pretty easy to set up a little routine for yourself. All you need is a clear will. Stay curious and try it out! I would be happy if you would share your experience with us, too, just write me.
